Memorial Day!

We had a wonderful little get-together for Memorial Day at the cabin (one of our very favorite places!).

a great walk, including lots of time at the pond studying newts, tadpoles, waterbugs, etc. . .

Tried to fly a kite

Had a great meal

Got a little silly

And lots of playing!!

We also put in the garden that weekend. Joseph tried his best to help.

Not for the faint hearted . . .

The other day Joseph and I were happily driving along. Then, from his seat in back he started urgently repeating, "take it mommy." He clearly wanted to hand me something, but I couldn't see what it was. So, finally and innocently, I reached back and he put something in my hand.

I then pulled my hand forward and looked . . . and it was a huge booger!! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

Brad said not to post this because nobody would be my friend anymore (but he did help me figure out how to spell "booger"). I, however, think it is funny. And gross! And the kind of thing that happens all the time with young children. We are still working on the tissue thing.

Appy dir-day doh-seph!!!

Well, a month ago Joseph turned two and I just finally posted the pictures (see below). Sorry! But, as you can see, we had tons of fun and probably too many parties. "Appy dir-day doh-seph" is how Joseph sings the birthday song, which he loves, especially shouting it out at the top of his lungs. Of course he got lots of practice with the song since Brad, Joseph, and I all have May birthdays. He also got really used to lots of cake and presents. On the morning of his birthday when he woke up the first thing he asked me was, "birthday cake?" I can't believe my baby is so old, but that's nothing new. Two seems like a fun age so far, lots of talking and running, dancing, new games and interests/obessions, imagination, reading, VERY strong opinions . . . it's always exciting around here!
